Make + Key = Makey Makey!
Makey Makey is the gift for the gadget geek who has everything! Makey Makey was developed by two MIT graduates who've just brought their prototype to the consumer market.
Using the simple circuit board and alligator clips, you can turn (almost) anything into keys on your computer! Makey Makey uses a simple USB interface (with no software needed!) that you can plug directly into your computer.
The standard/default interface replaces the up, down, left, right arrow keys as well as the space bar and left mouse-click button. The back of the circuit board has inputs for Arduino interface, which allows for greater customization of inputs. You can start using your MaKey MaKey board in "Arduino mode" at any time. This would allow you to spin motors, turn on LEDs, or anything else that an Arduino can do. If you want to learn to use Arduino or other electronics, but want to start without any programming or breadboarding, MaKey MaKey is a good starting point. There's no need to understand Arduino in order to use MaKey MaKey.
